🧪 Quick Start (Local Demo)

Get the API running locally in minutes!

1. Clone the Project

git clone https://github.com/ed-donner/agents.git
cd agents/1_foundations/community_contributions/careerwise_gemini_notify

2. Install Dependencies

pip install -r requirements.txt

3. Configure Gemini & ntfy

Gemini

Add your Gemini API key in:

• gemini_chatbot.py

ntfy

• Open the ntfy app (Android/iOS/Web)
• Create a custom topic name (example: my-career-alerts-123)
• Add this topic name in:
  • ntfy_integration.py

4. Run the API Locally

python backend_api.py

🚀 Deploy to Google Cloud Run (Recommended)

Google Cloud Run is serverless, fast, and nearly free for lightweight projects.

Step 1: Build Docker Image

Replace PROJECT_ID with your real Google Cloud project ID.

gcloud builds submit --tag gcr.io/PROJECT_ID/chatbot-api

Step 2: Deploy to Cloud Run

gcloud run deploy chatbot-backend --image gcr.io/your_google_cloud_project_id/
